Bridging the Gap: Professional Development for First-Generation and International Grad Students

Looking for a clear roadmap to access campus resources as you begin your graduate journey at UT Austin? You don’t need to figure it all out on your own! Join us for a practical workshop designed for first-generation and international graduate students in their first or second year who want to better understand and navigate graduate life. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll help you find and make the most of the academic, financial, health and community resources that support graduate students at UT. We’ll unpack where to go and how to access the services and benefits available to you—including international student and visa resources. You’ll also leave with a downloadable Graduate Student Resource Cheat Sheet featuring essential links, timelines and campus maps. Facilitators: Dalia Vazquez and Laura Botero, Ph.D. students in the Department of Geography and the Environment Light refreshments will be provided.
